Miller Diversion 180 Review
Get a complete review of its full specifications, advantages, and disadvantages, making the purchase process fast and seamless. The interface is relatively easy to use and user-friendly. It comes with durability, quality performance, excellent artistry all in one. Let’s dive into more details now.
Ease of Use
Ease of use the actually what makes it a perfect tig welder for beginners. The setup is more than automatic that allows starting work within 20 seconds. Just choose the metal type, then metal thickness on the control panel, and it’s ready to use now. Selecting the metal will shift it among the AC DC TIG welder, and metal thickness allows to set the amperage according to the task.
Is it look complicated? Don’t worry, play the DVD that comes with this unit as it is filled with instructions to make easy understanding for the newbies. The interface is relatively easy, just like Millermatic 141
Portability
Miller 180 is such a portable unit as the weight is 50 pounds. The lightweight and compact design make it easy to carry around. Despite this, it never compromises on performance or functionality. Its inverter technology takes functionality to another level.
Power
The Miller 180 welder comes with more power than anyone can expect from a beginner-tier welder. It is a more robust welder to provide enough power for hobbyists and novices. But the duty cycle makes it down at some point as it only offers its 10% with the highest output of 180 amps.
Wait, wait, no need to be disappointed; things do go somewhat better as the duty cycle continues to 20% at 150 amps. The welder can operate on dual voltages, and at a voltage input of 115V, it provides a maximum amperage output of 125A.
There are multi-voltage plug features that allow connecting to both a 115V or 230V holder. Switching from one to another is relatively easy, and it doesn’t require any tool to change it. It continuously welds for 3.5 minutes and then needs 6.5 minutes to cool down.
Performance
Inverter-based power source offers a more consistent and smoother arc by using a transformer-based power source. The non-contact start with high frequency gives a reliable arc start. In addition, the Auto-Postflow feature automatically optimises the post-flow time that depends on the selected amperage setting.
By using Miller 180, there is no gas loss from the wire and weld pool. To get more features like this at an affordable price range check Miller 210 DX

Is it possible to weld an aluminium rim with this?
It can weld perfectly if the aluminium rim thickness should equal or less than 3/16 inches. But anything higher than this thickness could not be welded accurately and ultimately lead to the wheel’s failure.
What should be the maximum number of amps for a High Frequency start?
There should be a 30 amp breaker for a High-frequency start. If it doesn’t work well, then try once at 27 amps.
What is the duty cycle of this welder?
On 115 volts, it offers a 100% duty cycle at 60 amps and a 35% duty cycle at 125 amps. On 230 volts, it produces a 10% duty cycle at 180 amps, 20% duty cycle at 150 amps, and 100% duty cycle at 60 amps.
Conclusion
Miller Diversion 180 is an excellent unit for AC/DC tig welding. It did the perfect job with aluminium, steel, and stainless steel. It offers beautiful weld and a consistent arc. Miller 180 is a bit expensive, but it never compromises its performance, functionality, and quality. There is a lack point that it’s unsuitable for heavy-duty like industrial application, but it makes the investment-worthy.
